Alva State Bank to Rebrand as Wisdom Heritage Bank to Honor Wisdom Family Legacy

Alva, OK – March 11, 2026

Founded in 1901, Alva State Bank & Trust Co. has been built on a foundation of trust, community values, and customer-focused service. The institution continues to grow while maintaining its deep-rooted connection to the people it serves.

 For more than a century, the Wisdom family has proudly served northwest Oklahoma and south-central Kansas communities with trusted, personal banking services. The family’s banking story began with C.C. Wisdom at First National Bank in Okeene in 1916, followed by his purchase of the bank in 1925, and continued with C.W. Wisdom purchasing Alva State Bank & Trust Co. in 1958.

C.W.’s daughter and grandsons now continue the family legacy. Over the years, they have added to Alva State Bank through mergers, acquisitions, and branch openings in the surrounding communities. These include Enid (1992), Burlington (1995), Kiowa, KS (2013), Freedom (2014), and the most recent merger of First National Bank in Okeene (2024).  

The Wisdom family’s vision has always remained the same: to build strong relationships, support local growth, and provide financial solutions with integrity and care. Now, to reflect that shared legacy and unify all locations under one identity, the bank is in the process of rebranding to Wisdom Heritage Bank.

“Our family has always believed that banking is about people,” said Dr. Peggy Wisdom, CEO and Board Chairman. “While our name may be changing, our commitment to our customers and communities remains as strong as ever.”

The rebrand is expected to be completed in April. Customers can conduct business as usual, rest assured that no changes to their account information will take place, and can expect the same familiar faces, personal service, and community involvement they have come to know and trust.

The bank will provide additional updates and notice as the official name change takes place and will announce ribbon cutting celebrations for each branch soon.
